The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published a public warning about phishing sites promoted through clickbait headlines, noting that fraudsters use email and messaging apps to entice users to open suspicious links or install applications that can compromise devices and personal data. The agency described typical lures, including sensational “limited time” offers and health-related claims, and warned that some messages include videos that require installing a “special” app, which can instead install malicious software enabling access to personal data and remote device control. It also explained that clicking such links can lead to phishing websites that mimic legitimate news portals or online stores, where users may be prompted to enter bank details, allowing criminals to capture payment information. Indicators include slow-loading pages that redirect to other sites and prompts to download something; users are advised to close the app immediately, avoid downloads, and not enter requested data. Recommended protections include disabling installation from unknown sources, using and updating antivirus software, and using browser ad-blocking extensions such as AdBlock, uBlock Origin, Ghostery, or AdGuard; additional materials are available on Fingramota.kz.
