The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan held talks with a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation led by Georgiy Orlov to review the country’s macroeconomic and banking conditions and discuss expanding cooperation under EBRD financial-sector projects. The Bank’s chairman said macroeconomic indicators and the banking system remain stable despite elevated regional economic uncertainty. The agenda included EBRD support for small and medium-sized enterprises, women entrepreneurs and youth, alongside “green economy” initiatives, the development of financial and capital markets, and improvements to the mechanisms supporting an effective monetary and credit policy. Discussions also covered the development of Tajikistan’s insurance market, referencing the Strategy for Development of the Insurance System in Tajikistan for 2025–2029 as a basis for reform, with cooperation linked to strengthening insurance supervisory capacity and introducing new insurance services. Both sides indicated readiness to continue implementing priority projects.
