The Vietnam State Securities Commission hosted a training programme on risk management for securities companies, aimed at strengthening understanding of the applicable legal framework and practical approaches to designing effective risk management strategies in evolving market conditions. The programme featured training contributions from Tan Boon Gin, Chief Executive Officer of the Market Management Company at the Singapore Exchange, and SGX member supervision specialists. In opening remarks, Vice Chair Ha Duy Tung linked the focus on risk governance to rapid market development, noting the VN-Index nearing 1,500, equity market capitalisation of about VND 7.7 quadrillion (around 70% of 2024 GDP), and close to 10.3 million investor accounts, exceeding the 2025 target of 9 million. Training modules covered an overview of securities firm risk management, financial, liquidity and credit risk, operational and high-technology risks, and Vietnam’s current risk management legal framework, with additional discussion of risks associated with international clients, margin management, client asset protection and cash management. Participants included securities firm staff responsible for risk management, internal controls, investment and trading, as well as board members and senior management, and attendees received completion certificates.
