The resource addresses gaps identified by teachers in existing textbooks and combines accessible explanations and practical examples with videos, interactive content and exercises. The 52-page textbook contains eight chapters covering financial and economic topics through situations familiar to students. It includes material on inflation, supported by the central bank’s PIA app for calculating personal inflation rates, and on foreign trade and its effects on employment and carbon emissions. Teachers, students and external subject-didactics experts helped test and refine the material across different school types and urban and rural regions. Schools can order the textbook free of charge through the Austrian National Bank’s financial education website.
