The Financial Conduct Authority reported that Christopher Woolcott pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to one count of fraud by false representation and three counts of making a false instrument. The offences related to a fictitious takeover approach for Touchstone Exploration Inc., which Woolcott created using false identities and forged documents. Woolcott held shares in Touchstone and sought to give the approach credibility in an attempt to benefit from any resulting increase in the company’s share price. He will be sentenced at a later date. Touchstone, which is listed on AIM and the Toronto Stock Exchange, is not under investigation in connection with the case.
