The Financial Superintendency of Colombia and Banca de las Oportunidades published their 2025 Financial Inclusion Report, showing a recovery in formal credit access, near-universal deposit ownership and increased use of digital channels. About 20.3 million adults, or 51.6% of the adult population, held at least one credit or financing product from the formal financial or nonfinancial sector. Under the narrower measure covering supervised financial institutions and microfinance entities, access rose 1 percentage point to 36.1%, close to its 2019 level. Deposit access remained broadly unchanged at 96.5%, covering 37.9 million adults, while the share with an active deposit product increased 1.9 percentage points to 85.5%. Financial system transactions rose 11.3% to 22.39 billion, with their total value reaching COP 12,029 trillion, and internet and mobile applications accounting for nearly seven in 10 monetary transactions. Points of contact increased 6% to 2.26 million, but substantial gaps persisted, including formal credit penetration of 45.7% in cities and agglomerations compared with 12% in dispersed rural areas.
