The Central Bank of Brazil has announced its initiatives for Brazil’s 13th National Financial Education Week, which will run from 18 to 24 May under the theme of financial education and long-term prosperity. Its main contributions are a 22 May event in Brasília on women’s financial citizenship and wellbeing, and the launch during the week of a new version of its Financial Citizenship Portal. The Central Bank’s event, titled “Finance, citizenship and wellbeing: the challenges faced by women in Brazil”, will be held in person at the institution’s headquarters. It will examine barriers women face in achieving financial wellbeing and citizenship, drawing on Central Bank and Sebrae research on gender, race and access to credit in Brazil, as well as qualitative research on financial education aimed at women. The updated portal will feature simpler language, a more modern design and more practical guidance for users. The wider week is coordinated by the Brazilian Financial Education Forum and brings together public and private institutions to promote financial, insurance, pension and fiscal education through in-person, online and hybrid initiatives.
