The Financial Stability Board (FSB) has appointed new chairs for two key bodies, naming Tiff Macklem, Governor of the Bank of Canada, as Chair of the Standing Committee on Assessment of Vulnerabilities (SCAV) and Dominique Laboureix, Chair of the Single Resolution Board, as Chair of the Resolution Steering Group (ReSG). Both appointments take effect from 4 March 2025. SCAV monitors and assesses vulnerabilities in the global financial system and proposes actions to the FSB Plenary, while the ReSG leads the development of global standards and guidance for resolution regimes and for recovery and resolution planning for systemically important financial institutions. The appointments are for two-year terms, renewable once, and follow the departures of the previous chairs, Nellie Liang and Martin J. Gruenberg, who stepped down from their US roles in January 2025.
