Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) published a press release on its 2025 Integrated Capital Market Outreach and Education programme (SEPMT) in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, held on 10–12 September 2025 with the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Indonesia Clearing and Guarantee Corporation, the Indonesian Central Securities Depository and industry associations. The programme is positioned as a push to increase capital market literacy and inclusion among younger audiences in the regions, while also encouraging local companies to use the capital market as an alternative funding source. A flagship SEPMT event at Mulawarman University drew more than 500 students and covered digital assets, capital market products, transaction mechanisms and investor protection. OJK’s Executive Head for Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Supervision, Hasan Fawzi, emphasised understanding investment objectives and risks, avoiding decisions driven by following others’ opinions, and learning the characteristics of each instrument before investing, including crypto assets. The wider agenda involved thousands of participants and included a coaching clinic on regional financial access acceleration and the carbon exchange, sessions on securities crowdfunding and carbon trading opportunities, outreach on capital markets as corporate financing followed by an IPO coaching clinic in Balikpapan, and a sharia capital market session introducing sharia shares and mutual funds alongside support for Islamic boarding school facilities; the programme was also framed as part of the 48th anniversary of the reactivation of Indonesia’s capital market.
