The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu and National Bank of Ukraine Governor Andriy Pyshnyy agreed to continue technical cooperation as both countries align financial legislation and institutions with European Union requirements. Their meeting in Chisinau focused on macroeconomic and financial stability, external risk monitoring and institutional crisis preparedness in a region affected by war and economic uncertainty. The cooperation included eight technical assistance exchanges from the National Bank of Moldova to its Ukrainian counterpart in 2026, covering accession to the Single Euro Payments Area, payment infrastructure, banking registers, prudential and statistical reporting, nonbank lending and EU law. Moldova also shared its experience of connecting to SEPA and developing the MIA Instant Payments system, while Ukraine has provided expertise on crisis simulation exercises. Future exchanges will reflect the two central banks’ priorities and stages of European integration.
