The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has appointed Anna Paulson as its next president and chief executive officer, with her term beginning on July 1, 2025. She will represent the Third Federal Reserve District on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and lead the Bank’s operations. Paulson, currently executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will become the Philadelphia Fed’s 12th president and succeed Patrick T. Harker, whose tenure concludes on June 30, 2025 under Federal Reserve mandatory age and length-of-service policies. She will participate in FOMC meetings upon starting and is scheduled to become a voting member in 2026 under the Reserve Bank rotation. The appointment follows a national search launched in September 2024 and conducted by a search committee drawn from the Philadelphia Fed’s eligible Class B and Class C directors, which solicited input from communities and industry leaders across the Third District.
