The Hong Kong Monetary Authority alerted the public to bank press releases reporting fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scams. Links to the relevant bank notices are available on the HKMA website. The authority also reminded the public that banks will not send SMS messages or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions. Banks also will not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who provided personal information or carried out financial transactions in response to the scams should contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force's Crime Wing Information Centre.
