The National Bank of Moldova held a training workshop at its headquarters, in partnership with the Economic Press Club, to improve media understanding of the official statistics it compiles and publishes and how to use the data available on the central bank’s website. The session, opened by Deputy Governor Petru Rotaru, focused on the methodology, significance and accessibility of the National Bank of Moldova’s statistical outputs. Experts from the Reporting and Statistics Department presented on the bank’s official statistics, including newly introduced experimental financial accounts, the balance of payments, and external debt statistics, and discussed the importance of aligning these data with European Union requirements in the context of Moldova’s EU accession path. The central bank also made the workshop presentations available for viewing, including materials on official statistics at the National Bank of Moldova, financial accounts and sectoral balance sheets, and quarterly external debt statistics.
