The Central Reserve Bank of Peru announced it will put into circulation PEN 200 banknotes featuring a new security thread during February 2026. The updated security thread is 5mm wide, up from 4mm, and uses two colours, blue and green. It is designed to produce a more noticeable motion effect and to synchronise colour and movement, which becomes clearly visible when the banknote is slightly tilted at eye level. The new notes will circulate alongside existing PEN 200 banknotes.

The Central Reserve Bank of Peru will introduce PEN 200 banknotes with an enhanced security thread in February 2026. The new thread is 5mm wide, up from 4mm, and features blue and green colors to enhance motion effects. These notes will circulate alongside the existing PEN 200 banknotes.
