The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) reminded crypto-asset service operators with exchange activity that they must submit licence applications and fully align with the requirements of the CBK licensing regulation by 1 March 2026. The licensing regulation entered into force on 29 November 2025 and provides a 90-day transitional period for in-scope entities to complete the actions needed to apply and adjust their operations, based on Law No. 08/L-295 on Crypto-Assets. The CBK noted that it has supported implementation through public communications, including informational workshops covering the regulation’s content, implementation deadlines and supervisory expectations, as well as individual meetings with interested parties; after 1 March 2026, providing crypto-asset services without a CBK licence or in non-compliance with the regulatory requirements will be treated as a breach under the applicable legislation.
