The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group updated its Endorsement Status Report after the Accounting Regulatory Committee voted in favor of amendments to the IAS 28 fair value option for investments in associates and joint ventures. The amendments address divergent interpretations of “similar entities” in IAS 28 and the resulting classification between operating and investing categories under IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements, advancing changes that EFRAG had previously supported. The European Commission will submit the amendments to the European Parliament and the Council of the EU for a three-month scrutiny period. They will take effect when an entity first applies IFRS 18, from Jan. 1, 2027, with earlier application permitted.
