The Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea, together with the International Finance Corporation, convened a stakeholder workshop to review a draft revision of Guinea’s leasing law. The reform seeks to clarify existing provisions, address identified shortcomings and align the framework with other applicable laws, giving financial institutions, investors and businesses greater legal certainty and predictability. The draft retains the core elements of the framework adopted in 2012, including rules for leasing companies, licensing, protection of contracting parties, registration of contracts and guarantees linked to financed assets. The revision is intended to expand businesses’ access to equipment, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises, and support productive investment, competitiveness and employment. Feedback from credit institutions, public authorities, businesses and other stakeholders will inform further work on the draft legislation.
