The Central Bank of the Philippines urged the public not to allow anyone else to use their e-wallet or bank account for transactions that are not their own. It warned that account holders are fully responsible for transactions made through their accounts and that sharing access can expose them to fraud, financial loss, unauthorized transactions and illegal money mule activity. The warning states that scammers may present themselves as legitimate users and ask to send or receive money through another person’s account, sometimes in exchange for payment. The central bank said allowing an account to be used for scams or other illegal transactions is punishable under the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act. It advised users to keep accounts for their own transactions only, not share access or let others transact on their behalf, verify payment details before confirming transfers, and report suspicious or unauthorized activity immediately.
