The Hong Kong Insurance Authority hosted its third Insurance-linked Securities (ILS) Conference, bringing together more than 120 institutional investors, reinsurers, insurers and professional service providers to exchange market insights and develop partnerships. In opening remarks, IA Chairman Stephen Yiu pointed to increasing institutional attention to alternative investments for risk-adjusted returns amid uncertainty, citing significant capital flows into ILS products. He also positioned Hong Kong as well placed to promote alternative risk transfer tools, referencing its open financial market, connectivity with the Chinese Mainland and the presence of about 3,380 family offices. The conference programme included three panel discussions on global and Asian ILS ecosystems, the role of ILS in institutional portfolio asset allocation, and practical experience aimed at clarifying common misperceptions.
