The Reserve Bank of India revised requirements for small finance banks on interest rates for rupee bulk deposits and deposit-rate disclosures, effective October 1, 2026. Deposit rates, including bulk deposit rates, must follow the schedule disclosed in advance on each bank’s website. Bulk deposit rates must be posted at 10 a.m. on every business day, with a grace period until 10:10 a.m. Rates must be uniform across branches and customers, with no discrimination between deposits of a similar amount accepted on the same date. However, banks may offer differential rates on domestic and nonresident rupee bulk deposits by considering the different run-off rates applicable to deposits or unsecured wholesale funding under the Liquidity Coverage Ratio framework.
