The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) has continued its regional outreach in Mainland Tanzania, calling on public officials in Kigoma to intensify insurance education and promotion, with a particular focus on supporting implementation of universal health insurance. During the visit, the Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Baghayo Saqware, accompanied by TIRA directors and staff, met Kigoma Regional Administrative Secretary Hassan Rugwa and later held a session with district and regional officials. Officials were encouraged to collaborate more closely in providing insurance education, act as “insurance ambassadors” in their communities, and help make insurance services more accessible to Kigoma residents. Dr Saqware stressed that insurance awareness is foundational to the success of universal health insurance and urged regional leaders to actively mobilise citizens to enrol.
