The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) hosted the second Joint Climate Finance Conference in Dubai as the flagship initiative under their partnership to support climate finance links between the Middle East and Asia. The hybrid event focused on financial risks arising from climate change and the role of innovation in accelerating sustainable finance. Nearly 250 participants joined discussions on how the two regions can collaborate by combining financial and technological strengths to develop and deploy innovative products and solutions to support the energy transition and other sustainable development goals, with tokenisation highlighted as one of the emerging technologies under consideration. The conference also examined findings from the DFSA–HKMA joint research report, “Scaling Sustainable Debt in Emerging Markets”, developed with BloombergNEF, which explores how sustainable debt can help scale up climate finance in emerging markets. HKMA and DFSA indicated they will continue to use the conference as a platform for cross-regional dialogue and collaboration on climate finance initiatives.
