The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision has issued a consumer warning after receiving a report of a counterfeit surety bond policy issued in the name of Allianz Benelux SA/NV. The insurer has disowned the document. IVASS also highlighted that the email addresses emissionepolizza@pec.allianzbenelux.com and director@allianzbenelux.com are not used by, or attributable to, Allianz Benelux. Allianz Benelux SA/NV is a Belgian insurer supervised by the National Bank of Belgium and is authorized to operate in Italy under the freedom to provide services regime in various non-life classes, including class 15 for suretyship. IVASS advised consumers to verify before paying premiums that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorized insurers and intermediaries, including by checking IVASS lists of authorized Italian and foreign insurers, the register of intermediaries, the list of firms authorized for surety business and related electronic policy verification arrangements, and published warnings on counterfeit cases, unauthorized firms and non-compliant websites.

The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision warned that a counterfeit surety bond policy has circulated in the name of Allianz Benelux SA/NV and that the insurer has disowned it. IVASS also said two email addresses linked to the case are not used by or attributable to the Belgian insurer. Consumers were urged to verify insurers and intermediaries through IVASS registers and warning lists before paying premiums.
