The Reserve Bank of India issued a notification instructing regulated entities to submit applications for regulatory authorisations, licences and approvals through PRAVAAH, its centralised web-based portal, with effect from 1 May 2025. The instruction applies across RBI-regulated firms including banks, co-operative banks, All-India financial institutions, non-banking financial companies (including housing finance companies), primary dealers, non-bank payment system operators and credit information companies. PRAVAAH (Platform for Regulatory Application, Validation And AutHorisation), launched on 28 May 2024, has facilitated receipt of nearly 4,000 applications, but the RBI noted that some requests are still being submitted outside the portal; firms are expected to use the application forms already available in PRAVAAH and rely on the portal’s guidance for access, submission and tracking.

Reserve Bank of India directs regulated entities to file authorisation and licensing applications via PRAVAAH from 1 May 2025
Starting 1 May 2025, the Reserve Bank of India requires all regulated entities to submit applications for regulatory authorisations, licences, and approvals exclusively through PRAVAAH, its centralised web-based portal. This applies to banks, co-operative banks, All-India financial institutions, non-banking financial companies, primary dealers, non-bank payment system operators, and credit information companies. Despite PRAVAAH facilitating nearly 4,000 applications since its launch, some submissions continue outside the portal, which the RBI aims to address.
