Peru’s Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds Administrators reported that Superintendent Sergio Espinosa Chiroque carried out a working visit to Tarapoto in the San Martín region from 9 to 11 March to engage local stakeholders and gather direct input on the current situation and outlook for the regional financial system. The programme included events, workshops and institutional meetings. At the invitation of the Peruvian Federation of Municipal Savings and Credit Banks, he took part in the Annual Strategic Leadership Summit in Microfinance and delivered presentations on financial system regulation and on progress and prospects for open finance. The visit also featured a workshop for directors and members of 13 savings and credit cooperatives from San Martín and Amazonas focused on strengthening management capabilities and promoting adoption of good practices and innovation, as well as a meeting with COOPAC Santo Cristo de Bagazán to discuss its current position, needs and development plans.
