The Central Bank of Bolivia received a protocol visit from Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) President Ilan Goldfajn and IDB Vice President Anabel Gonzalez, positioning the meeting as a step to strengthen institutional ties and deepen dialogue on shared economic and financial priorities. Discussions covered monetary and exchange rate policy, financing and other issues relevant to Bolivia. Central Bank of Bolivia President David Espinoza Torrico characterised the visit as signalling a new stage of engagement with the multilateral partner, framed around the administration’s stated principles of transparency, a technical profile and independence; IDB Bolivia Representative Leopoldo Avellán and central bank board members Wálter Orellana, Álvaro Romero and Claudia Pacheco also attended. Goldfajn began a two-day official visit to Bolivia that includes meetings with government authorities and, on 14 January, discussions with representatives of Bolivia’s business sector in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The central bank noted the previous IDB president to visit Bolivia was Luis Alberto Moreno in August 2013, when three loan contracts were signed.
