The Bank of the Lao PDR and the Bank of Korea signed a cooperation agreement to implement the 2026 Bank of Korea Knowledge Partnership Programme, focused on financial inclusion in Laos. The project will assess access to financial services, analyze development challenges and opportunities, and consider how international experience can be adapted to domestic conditions. The research is expected to inform policymaking and measures to expand access to financial services for individuals and businesses. The two central banks and participating South Korean universities are also working with Lao public- and private-sector stakeholders to gather information and develop recommendations suited to the country.
