Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defence of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published complaints statistics for Coahuila covering January to September 2025, reporting 4,062 complaints, up 15.5% from 2024 and representing 2.1% of national complaints. The amount claimed reached MXN 208.6 million, a 44.9% increase year on year, while the amount recovered totalled MXN 18.3 million, down 28.8% versus the same period in 2024. Complaints came from users in 29 of the state’s 38 municipalities, led by Torreón (39.2%), Saltillo (32.9%) and Monclova (4.7%). Handling channels were primarily CONDUSEF’s electronic case-management process (65.2%), followed by REDECO-related cases linked to debt collection practices (27.0%) and other processes (7.8%). Credit cards, debit cards and debt-collection (REDECO) matters accounted for 47.3% of complaints; the leading causes included unrecognised transactions and debt-collection conduct such as threats or pursuing collection actions with people other than the debtor, together representing 28.0% of cases in the state. By sector, multiple banking represented 56.4% of complaints, insurers 13.9% and Sofom ENR 9.8%; within multiple banking, 26.8% involved older adults and 39.2% related to possible fraud, mainly unrecognised purchases and unrecognised electronic transfers.
