The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) announced that Sejean Reid and Whitney Charles of Oakville, Ontario have been charged under the Criminal Code with fraud over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime in connection with an alleged investment scheme marketed as Golden Zone Corporation. The OSC alleges the pair operated the scheme between December 2021 and December 2023, telling investors their funds were being professionally traded on well-known platforms, that their money was protected, and promising weekly returns of 5–9%. The OSC believes these claims were false, alleging that about CAD 4 million was collected, only a small amount was used for real investment trading, and most funds were used to pay earlier investors or for the personal use of Reid or Charles. Halton Regional Police Services assisted with the arrests, and the investigation was also assisted by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada. Reid and Charles were arrested on April 21, 2026 and released on undertakings, with a court appearance scheduled for July 17, 2026 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto.
