Serbia's Ministry of Finance has provided a construction update on the 18.3-kilometer passenger railway connecting Zemun Polje, Nikola Tesla Airport, the National Stadium and the Expo site. Eleven kilometers have been completed, with the remaining seven kilometers and all construction work scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. Testing will follow before the line opens in March or April 2027. The railway is being built for speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour and will be served by electric multiple-unit trains due to arrive in stages from November 2026 to early March 2027. Zemun Polje station will become an interchange linking the airport and Surčin with central Belgrade and the Belgrade-Subotica high-speed line. The project is also intended to reduce road congestion during the Expo, which is expected to attract more than 4 million visitors.
