The Bank of Namibia’s Board of Directors announced the departure of Dr Johannes !Gawaxab, the Bank’s sixth Governor, with his last day of service set for 31 December 2025. Dr !Gawaxab has served for over five and a half years since his appointment on 1 June 2020. The Bank’s release noted that his tenure coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, global economic turbulence, renewed domestic reform momentum and structural change in the financial sector, and credited him with overseeing a strengthened macroeconomic framework, including low and stable inflation, a resilient financial system and a more modernised policy environment.

The Bank of Namibia announced the departure of Dr Johannes !Gawaxab, its sixth Governor, effective 31 December 2025. Dr !Gawaxab, who served since June 2020, is credited with strengthening the macroeconomic framework amid the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic challenges.
