The Reserve Bank of Australia has published its 2026/27 corporate plan, retaining five strategic priorities for the final year of its current four-year strategy. The plan focuses on strengthening monetary policy analysis and implementation, improving the resilience of critical payment and banking services, shaping the future of money, developing leadership and culture, and simplifying internal operations through stronger governance, risk management and artificial intelligence capabilities. Key measures include developing the tools needed for an ample reserves monetary policy implementation system, completing the Review of Payments System Regulation and publishing related regulatory priorities. The RBA will also prepare and test operational plans for using new crisis management powers over clearing and settlement and cash distribution facilities. Work on digital money will include assessing the case for a retail central bank digital currency, consulting on how the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System could support tokenised wholesale assets and private money, and implementing initiatives from Project Acacia. The plan also sets operational resilience targets, including 99.95% availability for core Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System services and 99.995% availability for the Fast Settlement Service. Planned technology measures include substantial implementation of cyber resilience upgrades and the initial migration of critical settlement infrastructure to a third-party co-location data centre without business disruption.
