The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) cancelled James Gerard Thackray’s liquidator registration on Oct. 2, 2026, after Industry Funding Model levies and associated late payment penalties remained unpaid for at least 12 months after their due date. Although Thackray paid all outstanding levies on Sept. 17, the penalties remained unpaid. ASIC also considered Thackray’s history of noncompliance, his failure to substantively engage with the regulator between January 2023 and September 2026, and previous assurances to rectify his obligations that were not fulfilled. The Corporations Act permits ASIC to suspend or cancel a liquidator’s registration when levies, including penalties, have not been paid in full for at least 12 months after the due date.
