Croatia's Ministry of Finance hosts Zagreb student panel with European Commissioner Albuquerque on the Savings and Investments Union

Croatia’s Ministry of Finance held a panel discussion with students at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb during the visit of European Commission Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union Marie Luís Albuquerque. The session focused on the Savings and Investments Union, presented as a European Commission initiative aimed at improving the functioning of European capital markets and mobilising private savings in support of European Union strategic priorities. Commissioner Albuquerque and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tomislav Coric addressed student questions on how the initiative is intended to give European citizens the opportunity to earn a fair return on their savings while enabling European businesses and innovators to access funding for growth. The discussion highlighted that strengthening capital markets depends in part on increasing citizen participation through measures to improve financial literacy and by offering simple financial instruments such as savings-investment accounts.
