The Bank of Cape Verde reported that a delegation led by Governor Óscar Santos attended Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon on 11–14 November 2024 to explore emerging financial and technological solutions that could be applied within the central bank, including artificial intelligence, process automation and payment systems. The delegation also included representatives from administration, security and asset management, payments system oversight, payments innovation and policy, and economic studies and statistics. Workshop discussions covered artificial intelligence and its organisational impact, digitalisation, fintechs, digital currencies, governance, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship and sustainability, with the central bank positioning the participation as a way to gather insights to support operational optimisation and institutional modernisation.
