The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) issued a consumer warning that Final Expense Ontario, Final Expense Protection Ontario Corporation, Final Expense Ontario Insurance Broker, and Hussain Ali Khan Mir (also known as Zeeshan Mir) are not licensed to conduct insurance business in Ontario. FSRA reported that Final Expense has been soliciting life and health insurance by contacting consumers through phone, email and its website, and has also been approaching licensed agents to solicit business. The regulator advised consumers and insurance agents not to obtain, deal in, or arrange insurance products through these parties or anyone representing them, warning that purchasing insurance from unlicensed individuals or entities may leave consumers without protections under Ontario’s Insurance Act and related regulations. FSRA also encouraged potential victims to contact local police and submit a complaint to support its assessment of the activities and any potential regulatory action, and directed the public to use FSRA and Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario resources to verify licensing.
