The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Erik Hotmire will return to the agency as Chief External Affairs Officer and Director of the Office of Public Affairs, effective June 16, 2025. The appointment places him in charge of the SEC’s external affairs and public communications and outreach. Hotmire previously served at the SEC as senior adviser and spokesman to former Chairman Christopher Cox and as senior adviser to the Division of Enforcement, and has held communications roles in the White House and the U.S. Senate. His recent experience includes senior positions at corporate affairs advisory firms, including Watermark Strategies, Brunswick Group, Teneo, and FGS Global.
