The Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency announced that, under a memorandum of understanding with the International Social Security Association, it will host and represent the association's Liaison Office for North America and Central America. Based at SIPEN, the office will coordinate the International Social Security Association's regional activities programme for North America and Central America in line with the association's general objectives and priority challenges for 2026 to 2028. Its remit includes analysing social security systems across the region, facilitating information exchange among relevant institutions, organising regional events in person or virtually, supporting training activities, and assisting with work documents prepared by the liaison office or arising from the agreed work plan. The liaison office was created in 2013 to run programmes for member organisations in Canada, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States.
