The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority published its quarterly superannuation performance statistics for the September 2025 quarter, reporting that total superannuation assets increased 3.0% over the quarter to AUD 4.5 trillion as at 30 September 2025, with AUD 3.2 trillion held in APRA-regulated funds. Total superannuation assets were 9.4% higher than a year earlier. APRA reported APRA-regulated assets of AUD 3,151.5 billion (+11.4% year on year), self-managed super fund assets of AUD 1,073.4 billion (+4.8%), exempt public sector scheme assets of AUD 181.4 billion (+5.7%), and life office statutory fund assets of AUD 60.2 billion (+5.1%). For the year ending September 2025, total contributions rose 12.7% to AUD 215.6 billion, comprising employer contributions of AUD 153.2 billion (+8.8%) and member contributions of AUD 62.4 billion (+23.6%); benefit payments increased 12.7% to AUD 136.2 billion, driven by lump sum payments of AUD 75.3 billion (+13.8%) and pension payments of AUD 60.9 billion (+11.3%). For entities with more than six members, net contribution flows were AUD 71.3 billion (+8.1% year on year).
