The Financial Action Task Force of Latin America (GAFILAT) reported that its Executive Secretariat participated in the Organization of American States’ Third Meeting of National Contact Points on Transnational Organized Crime in Washington, DC on 6 May, and that Executive Secretary Dr Esteban Fullin attended the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism’s (CICTE) twenty-fifth ordinary session on 7–8 May. The National Contact Points meeting covered progress under the Hemispheric Strategy, discussion of member state good practices, and panels on new manifestations of crime and illicit economies, organized crime and related offences including illicit trafficking of medicines, illicit alcohol trade and environmental crimes, and the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence against organized crime. The CICTE session addressed growing and potential links between transnational organized crime and terrorism, as well as regional counter-terrorism frameworks.
