The Uganda Capital Markets Authority published updated market figures showing Uganda’s five licensed Collective Investment Scheme (CIS) managers held UGX 1.15 trillion in assets under management (AUM) as at end-March 2022, with 32,998 investor accounts. AUM increased to UGX 1,147.9 billion at end-March 2022 from UGX 977.6 billion at end-December 2021, a 17.4% rise, while investor accounts grew to 32,998 from 26,936 over the same period. The licensed CIS managers were UAP-Old Mutual Financial Services Limited, ICEA Lion Asset Management Limited, Britam Asset Managers Uganda Limited, Xeno Technologies Uganda Limited and Sanlam Investments East Africa Limited; the release also described CIS as offering access from a minimum of UGX 100,000 and investing across instruments including Government of Uganda Treasury bonds and bills, deposits, commercial paper, corporate bonds and equities.
