The Bank of Namibia has issued the upgraded Namibia Dollar banknotes and a new coinage series into circulation, completing the operational rollout of the currency series launched in July 2025. The official issuance was marked by a ceremony in Mariental in the Hardap Region. All existing coins and banknotes remain legal tender and will continue to circulate alongside the upgraded series. The Bank encouraged the public to familiarise themselves with the new security features using the “look, feel, and tilt” approach, and said a nationwide awareness campaign will continue. From 30 September 2025, the upgraded banknotes and new coins are available at banking halls nationwide and at commercial bank ATMs.
