The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe has announced a webinar on Zimbabwe’s Warehouse Receipt System, framing it as an explainer on how the market-based mechanism can improve storage, market access and access to finance for farmers and agribusinesses. The session is presented as a discussion of how warehouse receipts can help channel capital into agriculture and support more structured agricultural markets. The webinar will feature the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, the Zimbabwe Mercantile Exchange and the Financial Securities Exchange. According to the event notice, the discussion will cover how the Warehouse Receipt System operates on FINSEC’s ZMX platform, how warehouse receipts can be used for financing, hedging and structured trade, and the ministry’s role in strengthening agricultural markets. The notice also links the system to higher productivity, lower post-harvest losses, greater financial inclusion and deeper investment flows into agriculture. The webinar is scheduled for 26 February 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 hrs on Microsoft Teams.
