Narodowy Bank Polski, the Central Bank of Poland, launched SORBNET3 on 8 September 2025, replacing the SORBNET2 large-value payment system that had operated since 2013. SORBNET3 is Poland’s core real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system and processes payments arising from monetary policy operations, interbank financial market transactions, large-value customer payments and payments cleared in retail payment systems. The new platform adopts MX payment messages in an XML format compliant with ISO 20022, expanding transaction data and interoperability across payment systems. Participation includes NBP, 45 domestic commercial banks, KSKOK, and ancillary system operators Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa S.A., Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartosciowych S.A., KDPW_CCP S.A. and Polski Standard Platnosci S.A.; participation conditions and criteria are set out in Management Board Resolution No. 19/2025 of 29 July 2025.
