The European Central Bank published its weekly financial statement for 12 June 2026, showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 6,135,633 million, down EUR 684 million from the previous week. The largest asset-side move was a EUR 3,432 million decline in securities held for monetary policy purposes, which helped drive a EUR 1,995 million fall in total securities of euro area residents denominated in euro. That was partly offset by a EUR 1,168 million increase in lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations and a EUR 2,243 million rise in other claims on euro area credit institutions denominated in euro. On the liability side, liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations fell by EUR 12,308 million. Within that total, current accounts rose by EUR 24,651 million while use of the deposit facility fell by EUR 36,959 million. Other notable changes included a EUR 9,267 million increase in liabilities to other euro area residents denominated in euro, a EUR 6,632 million rise in liabilities to non-euro area residents denominated in euro, a EUR 12,367 million decline in other liabilities and an EUR 8,123 million increase in capital and reserves.

Assets were pulled lower mainly by a EUR 3,432 million fall in securities held for monetary policy purposes, partly offset by higher refinancing credit to euro area banks. On the liability side, deposit facility balances fell sharply while current accounts increased.
