The European Central Bank published weekly Eurosystem balance sheet data for the week to 24 April 2026, showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 6,215,651 million, down EUR 2,652 million from the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations increased by EUR 2,430 million to EUR 26,332 million, while securities of euro area residents denominated in euro decreased by EUR 3,652 million to EUR 3,882,200 million. The main liability-side move was a EUR 24,834 million increase in liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations to EUR 2,485,227 million, driven by a EUR 26,944 million rise in the deposit facility to EUR 2,315,191 million and partly offset by a EUR 2,110 million fall in current accounts to EUR 170,036 million. Banknotes in circulation rose by EUR 209 million to EUR 1,615,444 million, while liabilities to other euro area residents denominated in euro fell by EUR 11,112 million to EUR 195,197 million and liabilities to non-euro area residents denominated in euro fell by EUR 17,106 million to EUR 133,979 million.
