De Nederlandsche Bank has opened its first cash machines on Saba and Sint Eustatius, extending its cash services in the Caribbean Netherlands. The move is intended to make cash withdrawals easier for residents, businesses and visitors on the two islands, where cash remains a widely used means of payment. The rollout was carried out with the public bodies of Saba and Sint Eustatius and ATM provider Brink’s. The machines dispense USD banknotes, reflecting the islands’ use of the U.S. dollar. Saba and Sint Eustatius already had two ATMs operated by commercial banks, and De Nederlandsche Bank is adding four more machines on each island to improve the availability, accessibility and affordability of cash.
