The State Bank of Pakistan has launched its nationwide Go Cashless campaign for Eid al-Azha 2026, expanding digital payment access in cattle markets as part of its broader push to reduce reliance on cash and accelerate digitization of Pakistan’s payments ecosystem. The programme will cover 96 cattle markets across the country, up from 54 in 2025, targeting a period of high seasonal trading that remains heavily cash based. Twenty-two participating banks will set up dedicated camps and kiosks in assigned markets to facilitate digital payments and onboard cattle sellers, transporters and allied service providers through account opening and QR code-based payment solutions. To support higher transaction volumes during the Eid period, the central bank has introduced temporary relaxations on transactional and or account balance limits from May 14, 2026 to June 05, 2026. Mobile banking vans, ATMs and Cash Deposit Machines will also be deployed where feasible, while the public is being encouraged to use mobile banking apps, branchless banking wallets, Raast-enabled services and QR code payments.
