Burundi's Ministry of Finance & National Planning convened a high-level strategic pre-consultation meeting to start preparing the next Country Partnership Framework between Burundi and the World Bank Group, aiming to secure early cross-government alignment on the forthcoming partnership. The meeting brought together the ministers responsible for agriculture, national education and scientific research, and public health and the fight against AIDS. Discussions focused on aligning sector priorities with national strategic orientations, notably the Macroeconomic Stabilization Country Programme as the basis for fiscal discipline and public finance sustainability, and the Vision Burundi objectives of becoming an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060. The authorities framed the exercise as laying the groundwork for a coherent, integrated cooperation framework oriented to measurable results, including stronger complementarity across sector interventions and improved effectiveness and impact of projects and reforms.
