The Reserve Bank of India amended its investment portfolio rules for urban co-operative banks (UCBs), allowing them to acquire equity shares in the Indian Digital Payment Intelligence Corporation (IDPIC) where necessary to obtain membership. IDPIC has been established as India’s central digital payment fraud intelligence platform. The amendments add IDPIC shares to the specified equity investments that UCBs may hold for membership purposes, alongside investments in entities such as market infrastructure companies and the UCB sector’s umbrella organization. The changes took effect upon issuance.
